Death Valley, "Valley of Death" in French, is about 4 hours from Las Vegas.
How to characterize the Death Valley: stifling heat, endless roads and beautiful scenery. Still a must! Reading good number of tourist guides for crossing the valley of death, a small ball in the stomach appears affolons but we do not! Certainly it is very hot, the car was sometimes hard to climb the slopes, but this crossing is surmountable.
At Furnace Creek, visit the Visitor Center, find out about the weather and all useful information. Bring you enough water, it is very important to hydrate 
. An air-conditioned car is essential.
If you want to cross the valley at once, it's quite possible it will take about 3 hours without too many stops (anyway it's too hot outside!). You will cross many tourists, so do not panic.

I visited Death Valley in July 2001 and it was an unforgettable experience. ... Despite a cloudy day, it was 40C and we could feel 'Death'
This reminded me of the comics Lucky Luck with the raven on the pole ... We slept in our hotel and the water was not edible ... Unforgettable
I visited Death Valley in July 2008 it was 51 °. But no regrets, the scenery was beautiful.
